BOAT FOR SALE

A Boat for Sale - to Buy or Not to Buy?

Boating is becoming increasingly popular for many people and for very many different reasons. Whether you yearn for thrills and excitement and hanker after a high speed sports boat or rib, perhaps you would like to charter a yacht whilst on holiday and bask in the Mediterranean sun or you are just happy to enjoy cruising up the Thames through the locks and stopping off at a country pub for lunch: the options are endless. It's hard to know where you should begin your search for a boat for sale.

Boats are often purchases of the heart but that doesn't mean you can't be logical and considered in many of the choices you make. Probably the most important place to begin is with your budget, remembering that factors such as berthing, insurance, maintenance, equipment and training are in addition to the cost of the boat itself.

One way to decide on your budget is to consider this basic calculation: take the annual boat running costs and divide this by the amount of time you will spend on the boat and this will give you the true value of your investment. If the answer adds up, sounds reasonable and worthwhile, start looking - the fun is just about to begin!

Why not visit your local motor yacht club and chat to the members: boat owners are usually very friendly and happy to tell you about their experiences. You’ll probably find out some interesting points that will help you decide whether to proceed down the motor or sail boat route and if you’re lucky you may be invited to cruise along the river!
